Interior designers may handle some or all of the following:
- Find out what the client needs, then create designs and plans to fit those needs.
- Create preliminary space plans (2D and 3D) designs and sketches that based on client’s needs and grounded in interior design theory.
- Check preliminaries for safety, functionality, and beauty. Does it conform to all of the building codes?
- Choose colors and finishes.
- Determine which fixtures, furniture, and other items. Include drawings and product descriptions.
- Create the contract based on pricing, installation, and procurement.
- Manage the project: project budgets and schedules prep-work.
- Preparation of all types of construction documentation. Examples are elevations, plans, lighting designs, layouts.
- Ensure documentation meets local building codes.
- Coordinate with various other professionals in the field to handle various specific tasts such as architects, mechanical engineers, structural engineers etc.
- Verify that appropriate documents are signed and sealed
- Handle all contract bidding on behalf of the client.
- Keep on top of the progress of the project. Perform a follow-up report after project has been completed.
