You will find there are a lot of differences between the Laboratory Information Management Software vendors in how much customization or configurability they are prepared to offer. Some software packages will make it possible for the customer to do the customization themselves, while other vendors will do it for the customer as part of their installation package. The important thing to remember about this last point is the issue of having the ability to change your software after implementation is completed. Some laboratories prefer the ability to do it themselves, whereas others may prefer to rely on the vendor’s programmers to make changes and modifications.
