Dehydration is a common cause of Xerostomia (dry mouth) and that is a big problem where bad breath prevention is concerned. A dry mouth also means that your salivation rates have declined leaving you vulnerable to halitosis. In time, a recurring or constant problem with bad breath will lead to gum disease and other oral health concerns. Without saliva, the mouth is essentially defenseless when it comes to preventing bad breath and gum disease.
