It’s that time of year again where everyone is a little bit Irish. When most people think of Irish or Celtic music, those pesky and annoying instruments from hell known as Bagpipes come to mind. What most people aren’t aware of is the Bodhran. Originally used by the Celts to carry peat moss, someone discovered that when struck a deep thunderous sound. Thus the Bodrhan was born. Nowadays it can be found not only in Celtic music, but also in many folk bands. Granted it may never have it’s day in pop or rock and roll, the Bodrhan is a must for any drum collector.
